Playing Malifaux @ Battleground Games

Monday evenings around 5:00 pm, Battleground games hosts Miniatures Games Night.
Warmachine/Hordes, Malifaux, Mordheim, Wild west Exodus, Star Wars Armada and X-Wing are the systems I see being played at the store.  There are several large tables to play on and plenty of terrain.

Currently, I am focusing on playing Malifaux and I am especially trying to grow the Malifaux meta in the Charlotte area.  I would love to see more players discover this unique game.  There is talk that the next book Wyrd is releasing is going to introduce campaigns to Malifaux with persistent injuries and boons - exciting!

If you want to learn the game, let me know and I can bring my "demo set" to teach you how to play.
I even bring some of my own terrain just-in-case since Malifaux loves tables with a lot of terrain!

Battleground Games is located at 112-6 Morris Dr.  Harrisburg, NC, just east of UNCC in North Charlotte.

Hope to see you soon!

Malifaux 2e Master

UPDATE:  McMourning won this race.  Now, who after him...?

I am getting back into Malifaux since their transition to Second Edition and I am loving the changes and the meta is slowly growing here in Charlotte, NC, thanks to the Battleground Games which has been kind to host Miniature Mondays which has not been overrun by 40k players.

Wyrd has gone about resculpting all of their models to go with Malifaux 2e and while I am happy with the metal sculpts I have, I would like to get a new Master's Crew Box since these plastic sculpts look amazing . So, I am looking to get a new Master without duplicating ones I already have.  The models I am considering are:

Jakob Lynch
Kirai
Leveticus
Lilith
Lucius
Lucas McCabe
McMourning
Misaki
Ophelia
Pandora
Somer
Tara
Yan Lo

Help me eliminate some from the list and get to painting them, playing them, and, most importantly, creating terrain just for them to run around in!

I already have models in Guild, Resurrectionists, Neverborn, and Outcast, so there are bonus points to those Masters above since I can already add to the Crew Box which saves money.  With that in mind, I also want to consider what terrain would be fun to see them in and make.  I already have some forest and desert terrain so models that can fit in those locations get additional bonus points, too.   I am imagining the accompanying terrain would be:

Jakob Lynch  - Wild West/ Saloon
Kirai - Railroad camp/ Brothel
Leveticus - Desert/Sewers
Lilith - Woods
Lucius -Internal Buildings (like a dungeon crawl, but more bureaucratic)
Lucas McCabe - Mining Town
McMourning - Graveyard/ Sewers
Misaki - who knows.....
Ophelia - Swamps
Pandora - Sewers/ Streets
Somer  - Swamps
Tara - Desert
Yan Lo - Graveyard

An Introduction

So, we begin with something simple: an introduction, a mission statement.

Summer is upon us here in North Carolina and those of us with fair skin seek shelter indoors and turn to board games, war games, and creating miniature versions of the outdoors we fled from or have no intention of ever visiting, e.g., swamps and barren deserts.

I love board games and miniatures games.  I love creating terrain and accessories for miniatures games.  Right now, the war games I play are both skirmish-level games (preferred size): Malifaux and Warmachine/Hordes. I highly recommend both if you have not tried them.  I don't always get to play due to my work schedule, so the majority of my time within the hobby consists of day-dreaming about playing and making/painting things..... mostly making.

I am so drawn to creating terrain that I have barely painted any of my miniatures.  Terrain-making may be my procrastination trigger, my compulsion that prevents me from putting paint to miniature and ruining a $10 - $45 purchase with my kindergarten-level painting skills.  Maybe that's what this blog is for, partially, to push myself to commit or quit.  By posting my hobby, I am journaling my habits, my successes, my failures, and to see if I am truly having fun doing this.  I would love for others to see these posts and gain something from them, too, but it is mainly to chronicle my progress through the hobby and capture some of the magic and joy it brings.

My goal is to post pictures of WIP (Works In Progress) for painting and terrain building, post pictures of completed works, post Battle Reports of various sizes and details, post opinions about games and characters I am currently playing or looking to play, and then I can go from there.

Well, Future Me, here we go!
